The Little Gold Grammar Book(Verb Tenses, Rule 40)

Rule 40: 조건문(Conditional statement)은 가장 일반적으로 "if ... then"형식으로 표현됩니다.
이 경우 "if"절 뒤에 "results"절이 오고, "will"또는 "would"를 사용할지 여부에 대해 종종 혼란이 옵니다.
이 동사 형태 사이의 선택은 주어진 조건문이 가정법을 포함하는지 여부에 따라 다릅니다.
가정법을 포함하는 경우의 적절한 동사 형태는 "would"입니다.
가정법을 포함하지 않는 경우의 동사 형태는 "will"입니다.
유용한 힌트는 "would"가 "were"와 함께 자주 사용되는데 같은 문장에서 이 두 단어가 쓰이면 명백한 가정법입니다.
다시말해, 가정법에는 "were" 와 "would"가 항상 같이 사용됩니다.

A81: If my taxes are less than $10,000, I will pay that amount immediately.

Q82: If oil (was / were) still abundant, there (will / would) be no energy crisis.
만일 석유가 여전히 충분하다면, 에너지 위기가 오지 않을 것입니다.
A82: If oil were still abundant, there would be no energy crisis.
