52. That, Which & Who
In general, who is used to refer to people, which is used to refer to things, and that can refer to either people or things.
일반적으로 사람을 지칭할때 Who 를 쓰고, 사물을 지칭할때 Which 를 쓰며, That 은 사람과 사물 둘 다 지칭할때 사용합니다.
When referring to people, the choice between that and who should be based on what feels more natural.
사람을 지칭할때 That 와 Who 둘 중에 더 자연스러운 것을 선택합니다.
Choose a person that can take charge.
책임을 질 수 있는 사람을 선택하십시오.
The person who is most likely to succeed is often not an obvious choice.
성공할 가능성이 가장 높은 사람을 선택하는 건 쉽지 않습니다.
Note: On occasion, who is used to refer to non-persons while which may refer to people.
때때로 Who 를 사람이 아닌 경우에 사용하기도 합니다.
I have a dog who is animated and has a great personality.
나는 활발하고 성격이 좋은 개를 한마리 가지고 있습니다.
Which child won the award? (The pronoun which is used to refer to a person.)
어느 아이가 상을 받았습니까? (대명사 Which 가 사람을 지칭할때 사용되기도 합니다.)
