The Little Gold Grammar Book (Pronoun Usage, Rule 18-19)

오늘은 Rule 18-19를 공부합니다.

Rule 18: "Than" 이나 "as...as"를 사용해서 비교급을 만들때, 주격 대명사나 목적격 대명사중 어느것이 옳은 것인지 잘 모르면 생략된 단어(아래 질문의 경우는 동사)를 넣어 봅니다.

Q28: My nephew is taller than (I / me).
나의 조카가 나보다 키가 더 큽니다.
A28: My nephew is taller than I.
---My nephew is taller than I am.

Q29: We skate as fast as (they / them).
우리는 그들만큼 스케이트를 빨리 탑니다.
A29: We skate as fast as they.
---We skate as fast as they do.

Q30: During our group presentation, our teacher asked you more questions than (I / me).
우리 그룹이 발표하는 동안 우리 선생님께서 나보다 너에게 더 많이 질문을 하셨습니다.
A30: During our group presentation, our teacher asked you more questions than me.
---During our group presentation, our teacher asked you more questions than she or he asked me.

Rule 19: "who" 는 대명사의 주격 형태이고 "whom"은 대명사의 목적격 형태입니다. 문맥상 대명사로 "he" "she" "they"가 대신 쓰일 수 있으면 "who"를, "him" "her" "them" 이 대신 쓰일 수 있으면 "whom"을 씁니다.

Q31: The woman (who / whom) is responsible for pension planning is Mrs. Green.
연금 계획의 책임을 맡고 있는 그녀가 그린부인입니다.
A31: The woman who is responsible for pension planning is mrs. Green.
---“She is responsible for city planning; “he or she" 는 “who.”로 대신 쓸 수 있습니다.

Q32: This gift is intended for (who / whom)?
이 선물의 수혜자는 누구입니까
A32: This gift is intended for whom?
---The gift is intended for him or her; “him or her” 는 “whom.” 으로 대신 쓸 수있습니다.
