19. Complement & Compliment
혼돈하기 쉬운 두 단어는 모두 서로 다른 명사와 동사의 뜻이 있습니다.
complement 의 동사의 뜻은 "채우다, 완성하다" 또는 "더해서 더 나아지다"이고, 명사의 뜻은 "완성되는 것" 또는 "개선되는 것"입니다.
Compliment는 명사와 동사가 연결되어 쓰이는데, 뜻은 "칭찬의 표현(명사)" 또는 "칭찬을 표현하다(동사)" 입니다.
A visit to the Greek islands is a perfect complement to any tour of bustling Athens.
Visitors to the Greek island of Mykonos, for instance, are always struck by how the blue ocean complements the white, coastal buildings.
